Meet Daniel Pennington, manager of local Christian coffee and book shop, the Brushfire.
What is the vision you have for this coffee shop, as manager?
…for people to be able to come and be themselves and experience God through their interaction of people here.
What’s your favorite part of being here?
Getting to know other people and their unique stories.
What do you find is the most difficult aspect of managing/being at the Brushfire?
I would say seeing the needs of people and knowing that only God can do it. I think when people come in here, and I know they’re missing out on Christ, it can be the hardest thing.
Have you seen people grow during your time here?
Do you know what inspired the name of this place?
This place is named the Brushfire because, like a Brushfire, our desire is for the Holy Spirit to use this place and move like a brushfire would.
I love his last response. That image of something burning outward, reaching people in every direction, spreading and moving as if because it is alive.
It’s a good picture of how the church ought to be. Our main aim should be to love God and love people. God produces the love inside of us that is then capable of extending outward without weakness or hindrance. Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.
I hope this story encourages you to keep living yours. You have a story and it is making an impact.
P.S. Here is their website. It is undergoing maintenance right now, but I’ll comment below when it is up and running so you can check them out in more detail!
